RCFEE has successfully acquired four new projects for the period 2006-2010. The grants are from MARD with main research topics on: sustaintable use of forest land, forest valuation, and forest physioecological.

 | Since Hoa Binh hydro-power station come into operation, its reservoir have occupied a vast area of the Da' river upstream. The formation of the reservoir have resulted in significant change of micro climate, hydrology and ecosystem. To maintain the reservior's life time, an area of 60,000 ha has been reserved as wastershed protection forest. However, slash-and-burn cultivation and illegal logging at the upstream have lead to serious problems: soil erosion in slopping land and sediment accumulation in the reservoir. There is an urgent need to improve the quality of forest plantation and better land use practice in the slopping land area around the lake. |
