Soil properties and environmental laboratory

RCFEE's laboratory for soil, plant, water and environment locates in the RCFEE's headquarter in Hanoi. We are capable of testing and analyzing most of important soil, water and plant parameters. Major pieces of equipment include:

  • AAS
  • TOC&TN analyzer
  • TJA Model IRIS 1000 spectrometer (ICP-AES).
  • Topwave microwave system for sample digestion
  • Alpkem A/E ion analyzer is used primarily for nitrate and ammonium analysis.
  • Dionex 2000i/SP ion chromatograph for phosphate, nitrate, sulfate, and chloride.
  • Labconco macro-Kjeldahl for Nitrogen.

GIS and Remote sensing Laboratory

RCFEE have invested on GIS&RS application since 1992. Our team is experienced on developing GIS solution for forest monitoring and management. GIS/RS facilities includes:

  • PC Workstations specialized for GIS and image processing
  • GIS, mapping software: MapInfo, ArcGIS, ILWIS.
  • Remote sensing software: ENVI, ERDAS Imagine.
  • Ao printer and map publishing software and hardware.
  • Updated database of digital map covering most part of Vietnam

Research station at Hoa Binh lake

RCFEE has an area of 354 ha for its research station at Hoa Binh lake. Locating in the catchment area of the largest reservoir of Vietnam, our station enjoy a strategic location for research and development concerning forest hydrology, nutrient modeling, protection forest, and agroforestry.

RCFEE’s research station plays an important role on forest protection, technology transfer and education for local communities and organizations.

RCFEE has established a 30 ha botanic garden with more than 200 valuable native species. At Hoa Binh’s station, RCFEE also has hydrology monitoring equipments and a small laboratory for long-term ecological research. Our speedboats are always ready to make field research on the lake quick and enjoyable.
